Almost 20 years of practicing massage therapy has been a process of learning and discovering what works or may not work, and how that varies greatly from person to person.  That is why every session is different from the next.  I don’t have a routine.  You are unique, and you are a different person every day because you generate new cells, you eat different foods each day, and other various factors that change who you are and what you need on an ongoing basis.  My massages are not just about working your muscles, but finding out where your blockages and congested areas are, and relieving them to bring flow and life to places in your body that you did not even realize were stuck.  If I had to give a name to the type of bodywork I do, I would call it Deep Swedish with a Lymphatic emphasis.  I also specialize in Lymphatic Drainage Therapy.  And like I mentioned, each session varies greatly from the next.  Most people say sessions with me are very detailed, very thorough.  I find areas that I can almost hear breathe a sigh of relief when they are discovered.  Amazing!  Years of experience and thousands of bodies have provided me with a deep intuition and gifted hands that will truly make you feel relaxed, alive and fabulous.

My Story

When I was in my early teens my mother started taking annual one-week retreats at New Life Spa in Vermont. It was a hiking and exercise based program with emphasis on healthy eating. Every time she went there she would come home with a few new nutrition tricks up her sleeve. One year she came back and reduced our family’s consumption of fatty meats and the following year she cut back on portion size and started taking long walks every day. Perhaps the things she learned 30 years ago are not completely current, but the basics of health and nutrition always begin by taking a conscious approach to our body’s needs.

Believe it or not when I graduated from college I landed a job at a marketing research company and my clients were Hostess (yes, Wonder Bread and Twinkies) Keebler Crackers and Cookies and Dove Chocolate. After working for these clients for a couple of years, I realize I wanted to do something that made a difference in people’s lives, and not in a position to promote the business of chemically-based foods! Yuck!

I started out at Chicago School of Massage Therapy and have been practicing various forms of bodywork since 1992. In 1993 I began to discover the importance of biodynamic farming and organic foods. To me there is nothing more satisfying than growing my own food, despite the constant battles with deer, gophers, slugs, snails, quail (yes, they do eat kale and other green delicacies) and rabbits.

When our children were young they would pick the young broccoli shoots from the garden and eat them raw. It was a treasure to watch them participate in the fall harvest of onions, garlic and winter squash, seeing the delight in their eyes. What special memories those are. My love of wholesome food and simple, delicious cooking has evolved into a passion for local produce, supporting local, eco-friendly businesses, and promoting lifestyles that are free of chemicals, synthetics and pesticides, not just in our foods, but in everything we come in contact with, to the best of our abilities (without going crazy)!

All of these life experiences have enabled me to bring a wealth of knowledge for health and nutrition to my massage practice, so I can help my clients on many different levels in creating optimal health.
